Dating back to the year 1803, the Weihenstephan University of Applied Sciences has grown to become Germany's largest university in the green technology sector. Weihenstephan's offerings of "green" biological engineering degree programs are unique in Bavaria, attracting students to Freising and Triesdorf from all of Germany and abroad. The University addresses the major global future issues of rapidly growing food demand and renewable bioenergy production by, for instance, creating the new study programs of Renewable Energy Management and Renewable Energy Technology.
