Starting with the 2007 summer semester, all Bavarian State Universities will levy moderate tuition fees. The amount of the fees is determined by each university, but may not exceed 500 euros per semester. This upper limit has been decreed by law. The fees are the same for German and non-German students. The revenue from these tuition fees is earmarked for improving the conditions of studying. The universities’ executive boards, together with the students, decide how these additional funds will be used. This way, tuition fees also allow students to have a stronger voice in the university community.

 

Being able to study will nonetheless continue to be independent of the students’ financial background. If you as a student cannot pay the tuition, the universities will advise on ways to apply for an exemption.
