Engineering Sciences, Business Studies, Design and Social Sciences: the Georg Simon Ohm University of Applied Sciences offers an extremely wide range of degree courses in these academic fields. Its history goes back to the year 1823, when the predecessor institution was founded. The „Ohm" University was named after the world-famous physicist Georg Simon Ohm, who was professor and rector at the former Municipal Polytechnical School.

260 professors and 300 part-time teaching staff guarantee the best conditions for internationally recognized and practice-oriented study programmes. With about 3.5 million inhabitants and 150 000 companies the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region is one of Germany's leading technology areas. Not only does the city of Nuremberg offer excellent opportunities to do internships in local firms, but there is also an attractive range of free-time activities: sports, theaters, exhibitions, concerts and much more. Not to forget the historical town of Nuremberg, which is an enormous tourist attraction with its famous castle or Christmas Market. Centrally located, the university can easily be reached by public transport. Good-value accommodation is available in the attractively situated halls of residence next to the university.
