By collaborating with industry, business, communities and associations, Kempten University has achieved a prominent position in application-oriented research and technology transfer in the region. Research activities are coordinated by the new research centre "Forschungszentrum Allgäu", and conducted by research institutes such as the Institute for Applied Research Memmingen (IAFM), implementing technology transfer projects, and the "Mittelstandsinstitut", offering market research and counselling services for small and medium-sized companies as well as business-related research and development projects.
Additional fields of activity are advising companies with problems in technology and business with the help of 75 full-time professors, and an advisory service for the utilisation of public support programmes. Companies may use our state-of-the-art laboratory equipment for application-oriented research and development, and students work on industrial projects, e.g. as their final study projects.
