With the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences and the University of Augsburg, the city of Augsburg is home to nearly 19,000 students. In summer the Mediterranean flair of the city centre can be enjoyed during a relaxed stroll, or with an alfresco coffee at one of the many cafes and bars.
The rich cultural life offers much for students, from cinema to theatre (open-air in the summer months). For those interested in sport Augsburg boasts the world-renowned Eis-Kanal for canoeing and swimming. The preferred mode of transport in the city is the bicycle. A quieter life can be found in the Siebentischwald: With its own lake, zoo and botanical gardens it's the perfect location for a picnic or nature walk. A weekend trip to the nearby Alps in the holiday region of the Alps is also not to be missed.
