Studying at a Bavarian university is highly attractive. Our Universities, Academies of Art and Universities of Applied Sciences have an excellent national and international reputation. In order to maintain and improve its high quality, we continue developing the Bavarian higher education system. In the course of the Bologna process, we implement more and more programmes leading to a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree. Many of them include courses in a foreign language, mostly in English, and they offer the chance of earning a joint degree in corporation with a foreign university.
A core aim of Bavarian higher education is internationalisation. The number of international students in Bavaria has risen continuously in recent years: More than 28,000 students from abroad - representing about eleven per cent of the total - are currently registered within our higher education system. It is in Bavaria’s own interest to provide international students with an academic training: whether it be because these young academics maintain contact with Germany and Bavaria after they return to their homelands or because they stay with us as highly skilled specialists.
It is for their practice-oriented course content that Universities of Applied Sciences are highly attractive. Thanks to their work-placement semesters and other projects, students become familiar with the demands of working life early in their degree programme. Courses at Universities of Applied Sciences reflect and take up current economic and technological developments due to an intensive transfer of know-how and technology. So it is not surprising that graduates of Universities of Applied Sciences are in demand on the job market. In addition, these universities offer a wide range of further training programmes which give graduates the possibility to expand and refresh their knowledge and skills during their professional life.
